During my postgraduate studies, I was very fortunate to participate in a UNESCO supported expedition focused on environmental education and conservation in Antarctica. This is my favorite place in the world! Meeting scientists conducting climate and wildlife studies gave me an unparalleled appreciation for the fragility and importance of protecting the Antarctic ecosystem.
Witnessing firsthand the impacts of climate change and human activity on penguin colonies and indigenous species brought new light to our work. When I returned, I conducted school outreach programs at local and international schools in Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia. I was also committed to environmental education through volunteering with organizations promoting ocean cleanups, marine conservation, sustainable agriculture, and climate literacy. I believe that fostering greater public understanding of these issues, especially in youth, is crucial to driving the behavioral and policy changes needed to safeguard our planet. My Antarctica experience lit a fire in me to do my part through outreach and using my skills and network to support conservation efforts.
Today, I continue to support and promote ecotourism through various charity and community projects.
My panel participation in the C40 International Conference on Climate Change (2010)
I facilitated dialogue sessions with prominent figures in the field of climate action such as Dr. David Miller, former Chair of C40 Cities (2008-2010), and he is the North American Director of the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group and Global Ambassador for inclusive climate action.
